Sustainability
Forest-first. Farmer-first. Always.

Our nursery — next-generation cacao raised under shade canopy
Since founding — every farm is certified shade-grown under existing canopy.
Average premium paid to cooperative members each season should be above the % stated above.
USDA and Rainforest Alliance. No conventional or blended supply.
Environmental practice
Cacao that protects the canopy.
All member farms are shade-grown under the existing rainforest canopy — no clear-cutting, no monoculture rows. Mature trees are protected, and biodiversity surveys are conducted annually.
Wet processing waste is composted on-site and returned to farms as organic fertiliser. Solar drying replaces fuelwood at three of our four cooperative drying stations, with the fourth on track for 2026.

Farmer welfare
A premium that stays with them.
The organic premium is paid directly to cooperatives — never to intermediaries. Cooperatives decide together how funds are split between member dividends, school fees, water infrastructure, and farm reinvestment.
Co-ownership means a share of CCBSL's profits also flows back through cooperative dividends each year — building long-term wealth, not just seasonal income.
